The three most prominent leaders from Jammu and Kashmir, Former CM Omar Abdullah, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and Sajjad Lone have been put under house arrest as the authorities imposed restrictions on the people’s movements across Srinagar. Mobile internet has been suspended in many places and public meetings or rallies have been banned.
“Former CMs Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti not to be allowed to move out of house as strict curfew to be imposed at crack of dawn, ” the police said.
“I believe I’m being placed under house arrest from midnight tonight and the process has already started for other mainstream leaders. No way of knowing if this is true but if it is then I’ll see all of you on the other side of whatever is in store. Allah save us,” Omar Abdullah tweeted on Sunday.
The two leaders, earlier in the day, had warned the Centre govt against abrogation of Article 35A and Article 370, which gives special status to Jammu & Kashmir.
